March 2, 06:00:00 PM — 07:00:00 PM

Sea level rise and the erosion of Florida’s coastline threaten our shared cultural heritage. A one meter sea level rise will impact over 16,000 recorded sites. Can archaeologists and the public record them before it’s too late? Join us for the next Archaeo Café at Goat Lips Chew & Brewhouse to find out! FPAN Northeast and East Central Region Director Sarah Miller will present information about a new program called Heritage Monitoring Scout (HMS Florida). HMS Florida is a public engagement program focused on tracking changes to archaeological sites at risk, particularly those impacted by climate change in the form of erosion and sea level rise. The public is encouraged to apply to the program and will receive monthly updates on training and resources available for HMS Florida participants statewide Archaeo Café is free and open to the community. Seating is unreserved. The talk starts at 6:00 p.m. and guests are recommended to show up by 5:30 p.m. to place food and drink orders before the talk begins. Goat Lips Chew & Brewhouse is located at 2811 Copter Road in Pensacola. At Archaeo Café guests can order food, drinks, and participate in a casual and relaxed environment. No lecture halls; just interesting archaeology conversation. An exhibit called \"Florida Heritage at Risk\" will be on display at the Destination Archaeology Resource Center from March 3 t
