Description: Time Sifters Archaeology Society Lecture Series - Monumental Mound Complexes of Northwest Florida by William M. Stanton, Archaeologist, Florida Park Service
Lake Jackson (1000—1500 CE) and Letchworth (300—750 CE) Mounds are two of the most significant archaeological complexes in NW Florida and likely functioned as major regional centers of social, political, religious and economic activity during their respective periods of significance. Although only 20 miles apart, the sites are separated by centuries in terms of construction and occupation. Here William Stanton of the Florida Park Service discuss these mounds of Northwest Florida.
