Join us for Archaeology on Tap, a local speaker series where you can enjoy a brew and a bite while learning about Florida Archaeology!

We’ve finally convinced our own Nigel Rudolph to give a talk about his work using archaeology as a tool for justice in historic African American cemeteries here in Florida!

“Reclaiming Hallowed Ground, Restoring Forgotten Histories”

Across the state of Florida, many historic African American cemeteries exist in desperate condition, their silenced stories a testament to the violence and racism of the past. Drawing from his restoration work in cemeteries across Central Florida, public archaeologist Nigel Rudolph will explore how Jim Crow-era racism contributed to the erasure of many African American cultural landscapes. By uncovering these forgotten landscapes, we confront the lasting scars of historical oppression and reclaim the dignity of these hallowed grounds.

We’ll start promptly at 6 and will make time for Q&A after the talk!
