Florida Historic Cemetery Inventory

In partnership with the Florida Division of Historical Resources, Bureau of Archaeological Research, the Florida Historic Cemetery Inventory helps ensure these often-forgotten but important historic sites are recorded.

People of the Apalachicola

This research project explores human history within the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve, as well as how natural and cultural impacts can affect the long term preservation of archaeological sites in coastal areas.

The Shipwreck Tagging Archaeological Management Program (STAMP) is a public engagement program focused on documenting and monitoring shipwreck sites and disarticulated shipwreck timbers along Florida’s coasts.

Celebrating Our Ancestors

“Celebrating Our Ancestors” is a multi-day public event designed to share the history of enslaved people in Pensacola and celebrate the many important contributions they made to create this city and its unique culture.

Pensacola Area Cemetery Team (PACT)

In 2014 and 2015, FPAN and the University of West Florida worked with the City of Pensacola, local cemetery stewards, and a variety of community organizations to help ensure that Pensacola's historic cemeteries were properly protected and preserved.

Mardi Gras

In 2007, FPAN partnered with several research, management, and private sector organizations to investigate the Mardi Gras Shipwreck in the Gulf of Mexico. Working in 4,000 feet of water, the project was, at that time, the deepest scientific archaeological
