Join us at the University of West Florida (UWF) Archaeology Institute for an exciting, in-depth presentation on local archaeology! UWF Department of Anthropology Professor Dr. John Worth will give a talk titled “The Luna Settlement in 2024: What Have We Learned?”
In 1559, Don Tristàn de Luna y Arellano led a fleet of ships and a group of over 1,500 people to establish the first European settlement in what would eventually become the United States of America. This presentation will explore more about recent archaeological excavation updates from the Luna settlement site in Pensacola, FL, and the incredible significance of this site to our local history.

This program is free and open to the community. Seating is unreserved. The talk starts at 7:00 pm and guests are encouraged to show up by 6:30 pm to explore Luna artifacts and more in our Archaeology Institute museum space.
