Archaeology Field School at Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area 2025

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area

Mondays, 9:00am-2:00pm

January 27 – April 14, 2025

The archaeological site at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) PB00035, Jupiter Midden #2, is a multi-component site representing occupation from 6000 years ago through World War II. In this 12-week program certified by the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA), participants will holistically investigate the coastal archaeology of the site by examining and documenting coastal areas of the site threatened by climate change.

The research goal of the project is to establish the presence or absence of archaeological material and stratigraphy outside the historic seawall along the south shore of the property, and to establish a date for the exposed brick feature.

We welcome university students, recent graduates, and lifelong learners! Please note that individuals must be 18 or older to participate in the program. Applications from university students and recent graduates will be prioritized. Participants must attend in person. We will review applications beginning December 1st, and send out acceptances by December 10th.

The program will be held at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (600 County Hwy 707, Tequesta, FL 33469) on Mondays from 9:00am-2:00pm, January 27-April 14, 2025, including a public day on Saturday, March 8th.
